Ottawa is built on un-ceded Anishinabe Algonquin territory. The peoples of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation has nurtured the natural environment in this territory for millennia by taking caretaking responsibilities of the common natural resources and maintaining the natural eco-system in the past. The peoples of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation continues in this role. As inhalants of this territory with the peoples of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation, it is desired to join them in this role of caring for the environment of the territory and honours all First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples and their valuable past and present contributions to this land.
